Once again, we visited Yami Yami Korean BBQ in Box Hill for our dinner gathering. This time was to celebrate a good friend’s birthday.

And this time we might have lost control a little bit, as we ended up ordering more than usual. Being really hungry was probably contributing to the lost of self-control.

The restaurant was very busy with customers eating and waiting for tables outside. The owner was a little bit rude to other seated customers; such as giving the bills even before the customers asked for it. It was actually a “polite” sign to ask them to quickly finish their meals, pay the bills, and leave – so other customers outside can have their meals too.

We began with a seafood pancake and two serve of agedashi tofu for the starter. It was a large size of a Korean seafood pancake too.

Agedashi Tofu
Korean Style Agedashi Tofu

Agedashi tofu is a rather unique tofu. I couldn’t find anywhere else in Melbourne that serves Agedashi tofu as good as this one. Crispy on the outside but really soft on the inside. It’s served with Tsuyu sauce and some shredded Japanese Dashi.

Then our dinner was followed by 6 main dishes which were totally mind-blowing dishes to all of us.

Donkatsu
Donkatsu – Breaded Pork Chops

When I Googled it, Donkatsu is originally a Japanese dish that was first introduced in the late 19th century. And it’s now commonly found in Korean restaurants everywhere. I am not a big fan of this dish, and it is deep-fried dish and sweet. My little one loves them so much. So this little dish has never been skipped whenever we go to Korean restaurants.

Gamjatang Soup
Gamjatang Soup / Stew

Gamjatang contains potatoes, dried radish leaves, and sesame powder in spicy pork bone stew. I am also not a big fan of this one, but my friend was totally into it. He sucked all the pork bone or the bone marrow till it’s dried.

Haemultang Soup
Haemultang Soup / Stew

Haemultang contains some mixtures of seafood, vegetables (usually the radish leaves), and silken tofu in hot and spicy soup. I have never got tired and bored of this soup. This is my kind of soup.

LA Galbi

Spicy Pork BBQ

And we did manage to finish all the dishes before the man handed out our bill.

The complete set menu was looking something like the below image.
