Located in the heard of Ubud, Bali – Warung Nuri’s or in English translation meaning is Nuri’s Tavern is one of the busiest restaurant in Ubud. If you come during the weekend, school holidays or public holidays, you may expect to wait to be seated for at least an hour (if you’re lucky).
This post is about a year old, and I guess it is still worth sharing with the audience. We stayed in a hotel in Nusa Dua. Getting to Ubud from Nusa Dua is not a short distance. We used a chartered mini bus to get there. It cost about Rp 850,000 or equivalent to $85 for a day including the driver. The mini bus can take up to 12 people.
We went there on Wednesday afternoon, and it was not a public holiday nor a school holiday. So we were pretty lucky for not having to queue to be seated.
The vendor normally does the grilling stuff at the front of the tavern. Would you imagine if you’re hungry and waiting to be seated for such a long queue while you watch the vendor grilling the mouth-watering pork ribs in front of you.
Their signature dish is the BBQ Pork Ribs with hot and spicy bbq sauce. The pork satay and chicken satay are amazing too. If you don’t feel like chewing meat bones, you may order the satays instead. I would recommend pork or chicken satay, I would not recommend the beef as I found it a little bit chewy. Perhaps it’s a bad batch at that day for the beef.
The price may be a little bit pricey for a meal in Indonesia, but it’s worth it if you want to try something different for a achange.
We spoke to the vendor asking why the meat was so tender and delicious. We were curious because the local produce of pork was not this tender. Apparently they use the imported pork from New Zealand.
