They were located outside the Chadstone Shopping Center, and away from the food court area. It’s called Fa Fah – Asian Roast Express.
We found this restaurant by accident. We initially wanted to eat at PappaRich, but we couldn’t stand the long queue to get our table.
The restaurant offers a southeast asian vintage style, it feels like the late 1970s or early 1980s – judging by the biscuit cans stacked on the wall.
The specialty was roast meats, especially roast pork. However, the Ba Kut Teh soup was beyond compare. We couldn’t find anywhere else in Melbourne that serves the best Ba Kut Teh, until we found Fa Fah.
I spoke to the owner, and apparently the restaurant was actually a Chinese-Malaysian food. I initially thought it was a Singaporean food, judging from the Ba Kut Teh – as Singapore is well-known for their Ba Kut Teh.
