I took a good friend of mine from overseas for a drive to the Mornington Peninsula on Thursday in early Sep 2016 to visit the places that I used to go.
Unfortunately, the places that I used to visit such as Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm and Red Hill Brewery do not open on Thursday in the month of September. I was quite disappointed with the fact I won’t be able to take him again as he was leaving for Hobart the next morning.
We ended up driving around the area to see which places that were open on that day. Luckily, Red Hill Estate (winery) was open. We tested a few wines, and bought a Pinot Gris and a Muscat.
Right after tasting the wines, we were heading to Cape Schanck for a bit of a walk. It is the southern-most tip of the Mornington Peninsula.
Before reaching the Cape, we stopped by a tavern called Pig & Whistle Beer Garden. I’d never been there before, so why not try something new for a change.
It’s a unique looking tavern, and I am sort of regretting for not taking the tavern’s interior. We were so hungry to even thinking about taking pictures of the tavern.
The meat inside the Pork Burger is actually a pulled pork meat, and it was so tender and juicy. Very similar to the pull pork I had at the Red Hill Brewery. Only this one comes as a burger.
The beef patty was so juicy, and instead of using the normal burger bun, it was served with the turkey’s bread. It’s even better.
We were so lucky because the tavern sells my favorite Scotch Ale from the Red Hill Brewery, and a Caesar Salad on the side.
